The story behind CareerMate
G’day, I’m Chris Casey, the founder of CareerMate. Based in Auckland, New Zealand, I have also called Melbourne, Sydney, and Christchurch home.
I’ve offered coaching, mentoring, and consulting to many people throughout the last decade of my career. I learnt pretty quickly that we all face similar challenges in our careers and business endeavours. So why not create a platform to share these experiences to help others?
I founded CareerMate with the intention of creating an easy career coaching service for Kiwis and Aussies that targeted key transitionary moments we all face within our career journey.
Career challenges may impact us at different ages and life stages, but at the core of it, I realised CareerMate would be of benefit to anyone needing that extra career ‘mate’ to support them with career-related decisions.
I attained a Bachelor of Commerce (First Class Honours) from the University of Auckland, and have complemented my academic foundation with specialist training in Design Thinking, Finance, Technology, Marketing, and Sales, across New Zealand, Australia, and the USA.
This blend of global experience and hands-on expertise forms the backbone of CareerMate, where we are passionate about helping Kiwis and Aussies navigate meaningful career transitions.
Alongside CareerMate, I’m currently leading a team of marketing, customer experience and digital practitioners for an Australian and New Zealand building services and metals company, Vulcan. Chris has strong experience cross-functionally, including marketing, digital, product, sales, and strategy, and currently leads a team spanning New Zealand and Australia in his role at Vulcan.
